DSU Community, The College of Education and Human Science Recreation Leadership Program is proud to host the 1st Outdoor Photo Contest and Adventure Film Experience offered to Delta State students, faculty, staff, and alumni on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Holly Potter, a senior recreation leadership major and a DSU Healthy Campus/Community Initiative student public relations team member, along with Todd Davis, HPER Director of Recreation Leadership under the “Dave Heflin Professorship” will be directing and coordinating the FREE campus event. The photo contest is currently accepting submissions until March 18, 2013. All winners will be announced at the Adventure Film Experience during intermission on March 20, 2013, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Jobe Hall Auditorium on the campus of Delta State University.
The Outdoors is viewed differently by everyone. Whether it be through the university or personal endeavors, this contest hopes to see the different views of the outdoors through the eyes, and lenses, of students, staff, faculty, and alumni of DSU. Participants are eligible to submit up to five photos (1 photo per category). These categories include: Outdoor Recreation; Outdoor Wildlife; Outdoor Landscape; Outdoor Whimsical; Mississippi Outdoor. Definitions for these categories are located on the official Facebook page. The Adventure Film Experience scheduled for March 20 from 6-9 p.m., will showcase different outdoor adventure documentary films for the audience to view the hardships as well as the amazing adventures that the outdoors can offer.
In order to enter the contest, your entry(s) must be saved as a jpeg or jpg, in a digital format and named in the following fashion:
Category_Last Name, First Name_Photograph Title
After your photo is properly saved, you must email your submission(s) separately to email@example.com. We ask that your photos have been taken within a year ago (Jan 2012-present).
March 18, 2013, 12:00 p.m.(noon) -end of photo submission period.
March 18, 2013, 12:00 p.m. (noon) to March 20, 2013 12:00 p.m. (noon)-voting for People’s Choice Award time period.
March 20, 2013, 12:00 p.m. (noon)-voting stops.
March 20, 2013, 6:00-9:00 p.m.-Adventure Film Experience night with photo winner announcements during intermission.
Location: Photo viewing will be on the DSU Outdoor Photo Contest & Film Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/DsuOutdoorPhotoContestFilm). Entry submission is to firstname.lastname@example.org. Adventure Film Experience night will be held on the Delta State University campus in the Jobe Hall Auditorium. Photo contest winners will also be announced that night during the film intermission. All photo winners will be awarded locally sponsored prizes. Also, there will be multiple prize raffles throughout the film experience. To be eligible for a raffle prize:
1. You must be present to win. (you will receive one raffle ticket upon attending the film night).
2. You can also buy extra tickets for extra chances for 3 tickets for $5. (Prizes up for raffle include outdoor equipment such/ as backpacks, boots, a tent, etc.).
