As a member of the DSU faculty/staff, we encourage you to utilize the services and programs offered by Career Services. We serve as your source for professional development for you and your professional & student staff. Several programs have been designed with you in mind:
DSU Career Services understands that faculty schedules are very hectic. Between class preparation, student advising, research, family obligations and participation in professional organizations, missing class may sometimes be unavoidable. When these situations arise, our "Don’t Cancel Class program" provides faculty and staff members with a series of career related presentation options designed to assist in preparing students for the work world.
Many students visit our office and are unsure about what they want to major in here at DSU. Some do not have any idea of what all types of majors we have. Others are nearing graduation and feel that they are majoring in the wrong thing and want to change their major. So, at the beginning of each academic year during Welcome Week, our annual majors’ fair, is held. The fair is on the same afternoon as ODK’s Organization Fair. The Organization Fair will be in the Union on the 2nd loor West lobby, and the Major Fair will be on the East side of the lobby. We invite all academic departments across campus to set up booths highlighting their majors. And, the more creative the booths, the better….find a fun way to get the students’ attention about what they can do if they major in your areas! We have lots of ideas, and we’ll be glad to help you come up with an eye-catching booth. We will award a prize for the BEST Booth that coincides with our theme! This year's theme is: "Come Lasso a Major!"
Email us, and we'll help you post positions in your office and help spread the word to students looking for work-study, RSE, GA's and Part-Time Clerical. Include any specifics related to the job...skills, times needed, how to apply, etc..
