Dr. Karen Fosheim teaches applied piano, Music in American Culture, and Music Fundamentals at Delta State University. She holds degrees from The University of Arizona in Tuscon and Concordia College in Morehead, Minnesota. Dr. Fosheim is active as a soloist and is noted for her performance of modern piano works. She has appeared as a soloist and collaborative pianist around the U.S. and in Mexico. In the summer of 2001, she participated as a performer in the Van Cliburn Institute. Her teachers include Nohema Fernandez, Ozan Marsh, Paula Fan, Dale Childs, and Billie Erlings in pedagogy.
Dr. Fosheim is active in several organizations and has been a presenter and adjudicator for the College Music Society, Mississippi Music Teachers Association, Mississippi Music Educators Association, MENC: National Association for Music Education, and the Pianist Foundation of America. Prior to teaching at DSU, Dr. Fosheim taught studio and class piano at Black Hills State University, Pima Community College, Tucson Parks & Recreation, and The Arizona Preparatory Program.
