The Delta State Alumni Association has made it a priority to improve communication with alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends. The Alumni Association recently released the latest Delta State Alumni and Foundation Magazine. The Winter 2012 edition features Dr. and Mrs. Pat Hilpert on the cover. The feature focuses on their ten years of service to Delta State and what is next for the Hilperts as they begin retirement. The magazine also features a story on the Delta State University Scholarship Initiative that was unveiled this fall as well as news briefs from campus, athletics, and the foundation. The magazine offers alumni a chance to see what is going on with fellow alums in the "with the classes" section.
The Delta State Magazine is mailed to over 30,000 homes of alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff internationally twice a year. The Alumni Association also sends out a yearly Homecoming publication to dues paying members of the Association that highlights what’s in store for Homecoming weekend.
The Alumni Association also debuted the latest redesign of the e-newsletter - Stay Connected. The newsletter is emailed to over 14,000 email addresses at the first of every month. It is divided into three sections- campus, alumni, and athletics- and gives alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff a glimpse of what is going on at Delta State.
“The Alumni office will continue to improve and adapt to trends in communication,” said Director of Alumni Affairs Jeffrey Farris. “Whether print, web, or face to face, growth is always possible.”
The Alumni Association also recently unveiled the new alumni blog- Okra Bites. Okra Bites was created to keep alumni up to date with their alma mater. It features photos, news stories, and quotes from campus. To view Okra Bites visit www.dsualumni.tumblr.com.
“’Okra Bites’ is a great idea to keep DSU alumni and friends informed and in touch,” said Georgene Clark, assistant professor of English at Delta State. “I applaud the Alumni Office for always providing the means for us to stay connected and up to date. ‘Okra Bites’ is just another example of their dedication and service.”
